M-Tech Information Technology, Inc. was founded in 1992 by Idan Shoham and Gideon Shoham. The company initially focused on IT security services, including penetration testing, systems architecture and developing policies/procedures.
By 1996, M-Tech had launched "P-Synch" -- one of the first software products in what would later become known as the identity and access management market. P-Synch has been used by over 1000 mid and large size enterprises to more securely and cost effectively manage passwords across systems and applications.
Over the years, this business grew and expanded to include "ID-Synch" to manage login accounts, "ID-Archive" to randomize and vault passwords to high privilege, shared accounts and "ID-Access" to simplify requests for access to resources and membership in groups. These products are also used by large enterprises world-wide
In 2008 Hitachi Ltd. of Japan acquired a majority interest in M-Tech. The company was rebranded "Hitachi ID Systems" with the products becoming Hitachi ID Password Manager, Hitachi ID Identity Manager, Hitachi ID Privileged Access Manager and Hitachi ID Group Manager. Idan Shoham and Gideon Shoham retained a minority equity interest and continued to manage the company.
In 2020, Hitachi purchased the remaining equity in Hitachi ID Systems and the founders exited the company.
Concurrent with the above, M-Tech Properties, Inc. was founded in the 1990s as a real estate holding company and continues to operate today.
M-Tech and later Hitachi ID enjoyed growth and consistent profitability over the years.
M-Tech Innovations, Inc. was established by Idan Shoham and Gideon Shoham in 2020 with the objective of assisting Canadian high-tech startup companies through mentorship and equity investments.
